Hmm, cheers Nozzle, until you mentioned it I completely forgot that I called you afterwards! I do recall the slightly sketchy conversation now! There are a number of Herald sports writers who have now admitted they were wrong all along about the reappointment of the 3 wise men too. Deaker and Lose should man up and publicly credit the coaches and admit they were wrong too. As you know, I’ve ALWAYS been about the players though, I just accept whoever will coach will coach. I have really enjoyed Henry’s banter though, love his cliches!

Shame Johnny, Dad told me you were in the Tron after the fact, you really should have come to Hood street, it really was an experience!

And I second that emotion Nozzle. What a wonderful game, and thanks very much Nez for bringing the wonderful reports. Please keep it up for next year so we can continue to add our pithy comments. I remember when I was your age and some of the drinking we used to get up to, but now age and respectability has caught up with me, and I cannot keep up with your old man any more.

It was a great game – unfortunately I watched it with Leslie at a Tennis Club in Hamilton – when we would have been far better off going to a pub in town. Never mind – still enjoyed the game, and I gave Beaver (or Donald Duck) as he seemed to be called at the Club – a great roar as well when he came on.

Roll on the Super 15 and keep those cards and letters rolling in.

What a night, Nez!! You and your mates were obviously euphoric at the final whistle but I bet a lot of Kiwis were just hugely relieved. Thanks for your call a few minutes later…although I could hardly hear you amidst the jubilation in the fanzone. I am especially pleased for Beaver and Ted. I am one of the very few who have maintained support for them throughout. Murray Deaker and Willy Lose persistently attacked those guys and should now eat their hats and never comment about rugby again.

Many thanks for your intertesting, provocative and well-written blogs! Bring on the S15!

I do agree to a certain extent. However, I believe strongly in the eyes of many french people, that after 3 finals and 0 successes, they do believe their rugby team are chokers.

From the perspective of probably everyone else in the world though you are probably right because they would never expect France to win a World Cup final. However, coming so AGONISINGLY close to winning could also be attributed to choking.

Given they spluttered their way into the final rather than dominating every team in their path, losing to the All Blacks who did dominate everyone they played, is not really a choke is it?

A choker is someone or a team that is expected to win but doesn’t. The All Blacks still hold this crown.

And so it came to pass that the AB’s were up for it. And it was not a surprise, but that did not mean I was sweating on every point. They are destined to win this tournament, and barring a miracle will go to win it, and Richie will justifiably be carried off the field and we will all go home early. And all credit to Graham Henry and Smith and Hanson. The NZRU were very wise to keep them on. They will rightfully get a lot of credit for the win and the detractors may finally shut up about the merits of Dingo v Henry. And speaking of Dingo – how much better would the team have been with Giteau? Why did he leave him behind (the BIG call). And Barnes? Should he have pulled Cooper off early?

And the poor old Welsh. The tournament will be a sadder place without them. It would have been a fitting final. But for a good goalkicker they would have been there.

Relax Nozzle. Latest news hot off the press is that Beale is out and Adan Ashley Cooper is fullback. Be confident. We ARE the better team. The team is up for it. Of course anything can happen – but all things being equal – I think the AB’s will show them up. I think your comments Nez are far more relevant than the English guy. I never saw the programme, but assume if was Stuart Barnes. He’s very good, but I think he is clutching at straws. Cruden is a good backup to Carter. He came into his own once he went back to Manawatu and under the guidance of Rennie – (whose name is not mentioned as AB coach – would this be silly)? Cruden looked a far more confident player than poor Slade last week, who looked a shadow of his old self when he was on. There will be no problems with the “inside channel”.

GO THE AB”S!!!!!! And GO WALES!!!!
